Avon Post Competes in The Inaugural H.E.R.O Competition. Read the full story!

The Avon Explorers competed in the Inaugural H.E.R.O competition this past Saturday, May 8th. This competition was basically a firefighter challenge type event. Each participating group had seven events to compete in. Teams from all over Indiana attended the event.

The event was a huge success do to the hard work of many organizations and people. We wish to thank first the Lebanon Fire Department for their outstanding support and hard work to make this the success it was. A special thank you to Chief Caldwell for the Lebanon Fire department for going above and beyond to make sure this event was an exceptional one.

Chief Jeff Hayes from the J. Everret Light Career center in Indianapolis spearheaded the organization of the event and did an outstanding job. Atta-boy Jeff. Our thanks to Jody for all her hard work and to all the volunteers, vendors, firefighters, Lebanon Ladies Auxiliary for making this event a smash hit!!!

The Avon team, together with cadets from Centerville Fire department, Won First place in the CPR & AED event, and placed second in the Search and Rescue event. Outstanding job Avon and Centerville.

Our Congratulations to the Carmel Fire Department Explorer post for their first place overall win. Super job guys! (We'll be looking to take that trophy from you next year).

We can't adequately express how great this event was for the young men and women who are learning about the Fire and EMS service. If you missed the event, you should be making plans for next year.
